Editorial

Dear readers,

Welcome to the fifth issue of the Botswana Speaks Parliamentary Initiative newsletter!

As this year is coming to an end, the current issue will be the last for 2013. It concludes an important year, notably creative and productive for the project! A lot of progress was made; visibility of the project was raised with regular constituency meetings being organised by the Parliament of Botswana, citizens’ acceptance of the initiative increasing day by day and participation on the platform taking off.

Since our last issue, the Botswana Speaks Team has organized and participated in several constituency meetings in the four pilot constituencies in October and December, giving the opportunity to the audience to test the Botswana Speaks platform and participate online.

U-Speak and Speak4yourself online tools are gathering a lot of citizens’ interest and the participation is increasing. Polls are still open for all citizens who want to share their opinions and give their input in the debates!

A number of interesting articles are included in this issue to inform you about relevant news. We also recommend a list of upcoming events that could be of interest to attend.

As a final note, we send you our warmest greetings and best wishes for the New Year. May this year bring you joy, happiness and prosperity! We are looking forward to meeting you again with the first issue of 2014!
