DEMO-Africa has released the dates for the third annual DEMO Africa to be held between September 22 - 26, 2014 in Lagos, Nigeria. The series of events will be hosted in collaboration with the Nigeria Federal Ministry of ICT, the [email protected] Partnership, VC4Africa, and Nigeria's National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

According to an article published on allAfrica.com, Google, Friday, announced that three Nigerians were part of the top 10 finalists in its Google "Africa Connected" Competition.

In a statement, Google said that the three Nigerian finalists were Eric Obuh, a social crusader; Eseoghene Odiete, a fashion designer; and Mayowa Adegbile, a philanthropist.

The organisation said that the top 10 finalists also include two Kenyans, a Senegalese, a South African, a Zimbabwean and a Ghanaian.

Nigeria: Facebook Growing Fast in Nigeria

According to the article published on the website AllAfrica.com, MTN Nigeria, the telecommunications firm, has clinched a major deal with Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT) and local technology firm, NetLink Limited, to deliver information and communications technology (ICT) solutions across the country.

The solution will be provided on a broad range of advanced ICT services that are billed to be available to the private and public sector in the near future.

Nigeria grows subscribers to 121m

Nigeria’s mobile phone subscriber base has grown to 121 million, with internet user numbers up from 45 million two years ago, to 48 million.

This is according to President Goodluck Jonathan, whose message was delivered in Bangkok this week at the opening of Nigeria’s Pavilion at the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Telecom World 2013.

781 million mobile subscriptions in Africa

This is according to Ericsson’s annual Mobility report.
